At Te Whare Puna Ora, research is a pathway to Tino rangatiratanga, empowering our people to tell our own stories, define our own aspirations, and create solutions grounded in our lived realities.

Our community-led research is guided by kaupapa Māori values and undertaken alongside Wāhine, Tāne, and Rangatahi, ensuring that the voices of our whānau remain at the center of the knowledge we create.

We uphold Indigenous data sovereignty, recognising that our data is a taonga. Through Māori-led collection, analysis, interpretation, and governance of information, we protect the integrity of our knowledge while strengthening our capacity to make decisions for ourselves and future generations.

By weaving together mātauranga Māori, lived experience, and community insight, our research supports whānau wellbeing, advances equity, and contributes to meaningful, sustainable change. We believe that the people most affected by issues are best placed to understand them, research them, and lead the solutions.
